Bareilly: The Department of Law at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, successfully conducted the PhD viva voce presentation of research scholar Naimuddin on Saturday. The academic event witnessed the presence of distinguished legal scholars, faculty members, research scholars, and students.
The viva was evaluated by external examiner Professor C.P. Singh, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Lucknow University. Also present were Head of the Department Professor Amit Singh, research supervisor Professor O.P. Roy, Principal of Bareilly College, Professor V.K. Gupta, Associate Professor Dr. Arun Prakash Singh, and Dr. Sanjay Yadav. Guests were welcomed with saplings and shawls.
Naimuddin presented his doctoral research titled “Patent Law and Pharmaceuticals with Reference to Generic Medicine in India: A Critical Study.” During the presentation, he highlighted key recommendations, including improving the accessibility of generic medicines in rural areas, simplifying and liberalizing the process of compulsory licensing, developing a clear policy framework for generic allopathic medicines, and maintaining a balance between patent rights and public health requirements.
The research was completed under the supervision of Professor O.P. Roy.
The department also hosted a Pre-PhD presentation by research scholar Ashok Sagar on the topic “Sexual Crimes in India: A Socio-Legal Study.” Faculty members and experts offered suggestions to strengthen the research. The study is being conducted under the supervision of Professor Gurmeet Singh of G.K. College, Moradabad.
A large number of faculty members, research scholars, LLM students, and departmental staff attended the programme, reflecting the department’s continued commitment to academic research and legal scholarship.
